beginning to bloom right here

I have struggled a good bit recently with getting embroiled over things that though difficult should not have consumed me so.  So I'm going to try to "bloom where I am planted."  Not sure which wise elder first told me this, but I always thought it meant make where you are beautiful.  Now I think it can also be interpreted as be your best self no matter where you are.  So what shall my first step toward a better me be?
