Wood and metallic beads strung on softflex with brass lobster clasp
Oh and here's a few tips on sizing if you want to make an anklet yourself. TIPS
And here's a quick tip from me.
If like me you tuck one foot under you when you sit...don't put anklets on that leg.
It hurts (thank you solid wood chair), and it may damage your design as well.
The faux sea glass is by Carolyn Chenault. The blue dangle by the clasp is like a counter balance. And here's a quick tip from me.

No worries though I wanted to make this design a pair so restringing one wont be a problem.
I like where this one falls on the foot.
Yep some times I can be brilliant.
Did you know you can't be too fussy about photos when your taking them of your own feet? If you hang upside down like that too long you can | Foot on a box shows you the other side of this one. Thanks for the tip ladies. |
Okay, I'm furiously working on one more, but with volunteer projects and two extremely unhelpful guys constantly cluttering my house this is as far as I've gotten on it.
I want to mention the email that Kashmira had going where some of the girls chatted during the process. I really thought it brought the participants to life for me. I don't have the time to read each participant's entire blog like some do. The email really added a little spirit to this process though.
UPDATE: I finished it! Yeah!!!
This one is adapted from the pattern I found HERE.
Fireline always grows with wear for me so this one will be perfect in a while.
Another fun extra Kashmira added to this hop was a pinterest board of inspiration created just for us.
(I'm sure she wont mind if you take a peek.) ;)
Thanks for stopping by.
I love it when you share your thoughts.
Love your creations :) and that last one is perfect for a party ;)
ReplyDeleteAnd I didn't have to stand on my head to take photos of my ankle... I sat in my chair and put my foot up on a box close to the same height... then just did a few minor contortions ;) It hit me later, I have a tripod... silly me could've just set it up and used the timer, duh >.< lol
Wow great anklets Ginger. That last piece is Fantastic!! I made my daughter model LOL. No way I could bend like that :-)
ReplyDeleteI want to see that last one on too!! :) Great job on all your designs.
ReplyDeleteWow! I really like the colors in that 2nd one. And that last one is awesome. Looks gorgeous. I stood with my foot up on a chair/table to try to get my foot and anklet up where I could take a photo of it. Still wasn't easy. LOL nice job.
ReplyDeleteThese are all great designs and would be so much fun to wear this summer...but that last one is a stunner!
ReplyDeleteJust gorgeous, Ginger!

This was a fun hop. Love your anklets and thank you for sharing the tutorial.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! Thanks for the tip about sitting on foot (guilty) but luckily I only made anklets for my nieces so didn't have to worry about photo-taking contortions (more like worrying about getting two 17-year-olds to stay in one place long enough LOL).
ReplyDeleteGinger, I want to see a picture of you taking a picture of your foot :) It is hard, isn't it? I put my foot up on top of a step to bring the foot closer to me and twisted it a little bit :)
ReplyDeleteI am in LOVE with that first design! Are those polymer clay beads that broke? :( And is it strung on softflex?
I want to see the other side of the second one, and a model shot of the last one. I just want you to do some more work, lol :)
Lastly, thanks SO much for joining and for the lovely things you said about me up there :)
Nice job on all of the anklets.. your designs are great!
ReplyDeleteOh my I am in love the last one. I am so happy you finished and we got to see it. I would love to see it on! Just gorgeous. I agree with you about the emails that went around. It was fun chatting with all the gals before the actual hop.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the update! That was wood that broke, wow!
ReplyDeleteAnd now my new fav is the "love" one, lol :) I was not able to get a mental picture of the other side...its awesome! I think I will do something like that!
And the last one is gorgeous too...very dressy :)
Very very nice! That last one looks like it was a lot of work. I think my favorite is the first but I do like the way the second one is simple with only a few beads. What is it they say about understatements being a "statement". Yep! you did it! :)
ReplyDeleteOh my, in addition to seeing your wonderful anklets, I got an education and a good laugh! I sure should have studied that "tips" link good and hard before I made my piece! Sizing...ugh! And I may have the image on you standing on your head taking your anklet photos...and just what that did to your narrative...for quite a long while! Thanks, I needed that....all that! :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm drooling over your last bracelet! They are all fun and very pretty! But the last one caught my heart!
ReplyDeleteThat last anklet is soo beautiful.. Love the design. I did not take a photo of my anklets on my ankles, because I have such fat ones.. lol
ReplyDeleteLoved your blog post today, and I love the anklets that you did. The last one is my favorite, though. Great job! Gina H
ReplyDeletewow what a collection! and that last one is gorgeous!!! that is amazing that you can photograph your own ankles - so friken well like that! I had to use a model
ReplyDeleteLove all of them! The first one is my favorite because I could see myself wearing it daily. :)
ReplyDeleteWow! You are a busy girl. Love your anklets, the last one is way way over the top, just gorgeous. Oh and thank you for the tips!
ReplyDeleteFlipping through these anklet posts really has me wanting to create and wear anklets (neither of which I've ever done). However, your tip on how to sit with them really makes me ponder the design and I often sit with both legs crossed under me (kindergarten style) so I'm going to have to think on this. Oh, and I really like your first anklet. There's something so calming and beachy about it!
ReplyDeleteHi Ginger! Nice work with the counter balance--I've been so flustered lately that I'm not sure that I would have thought of that.
ReplyDeleteI always thought that my favorite anklets were the ones made primarily with metal but you and the other seed beaders are fast changing my mind!
both the anklets and tips are fabulous! I always tuck my left foot under, I am forever reminding myself I shouldn't spend my work day like that! Actually come to think of it maybe I should wear one there as a deterent. Anyways, fabulous job!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the beadwork anklet. It reminds me of wedding jewelry. Do you have a pattern? I hope! I adore Carolyn Chenault's faux sea glass -- gorgeous anklet with her focal too! Excellent! Enjoy your wonderful anklets this summer :)
